Permit Information
All wells in the District must be registered or have a test hole permit or well permit issued by the District. No water well drilling can begin until the proper documentation and applicable fees have been accepted and approved by the District.
Fees
$1,000 for Well Permits.
$200 for Test Hole Permits.
Once a permit is signed and all fees paid, the District can usually approve and complete the permits within 7 business days.
Exempt Wells
Domestic and livestock wells that are not capable of producing more than 25,000 gallons of water per day are exempt from permitting, well-spacing and metering requirements but must be registered with the District.
Rig-supply wells may also be exempt from permitting but remain subject to applicable registration, metering, reporting and well-construction requirements. Contact the District to confirm the requirements before drilling or operating a rig-supply well.
Ownership and Agent Authorization
Anyone applying for a Well Permit, Test Hole Permit, Property Line Spacing Easement, Declaration of Groundwater Production Unit or Well Reclassification must be either the owner of the groundwater rights or the owner’s authorized agent. An authorized agent must complete an Agent Authorization Form, have it notarized and file it with the District office.
